Why Is This Indigo City In India All Blue?

Jodhpur, a city on the edges of the Thar Desert, is a beautiful place to visit. Furthermore, it is the 2nd largest city in the Indian state of Rajasthan. Jodhpur is often referred to as the “Sun City” owing to the plethora of beautiful sunny days that it enjoys. The city has been around for a long time and has a lot of history. It was established at than five hundred years ago. It also has numerous major palaces, forts, gardens, mausoleums, and lakes, all of which contribute to its popularity as a tourist attraction in the region.

Why are they all blue in color?

The origins of the moniker “the blue city,” on the other hand, are unknown to a surprising lot of visitors. The fact that practically the whole area is painted all blue adds a lot to its attraction. It also drew our attention here at Viraltrendzs, which is why we chose to share it with you all.

It’s a symbol of social status.

It spans for more than 10 kilometers around the walls of Jodhpur’s medieval walled old city. Boxy indigo buildings dot the cityscape, which further emphasizes the city’s elegant feel.

Initially, these dwellings were covered with a blue color to identify them as belonging to a Brahmin family. This area has been home to Indian caste priests known as Brahmins for a long time. A short time later, non-Brahmins began to wear blue as a marker of their ethnicity as well.

However, it is said that this specific shade of indigo blue has an additional positive characteristic that should be considered. It’s the ability to keep insects away.

As a result of their brilliant colors, these structures give the appearance of a magnificent blue sea among the typically dry Indian landscape.

“Blue City,” as it’s known, is an enchanting sight to see.
