Our relationships with pets go back a long time. An overwhelming majority of people believe cats and dogs are ideal as companion animals. Weird pets are frowned upon, yet there are certain individuals who like the idea of owning something out of the ordinary as a pet. It may be a snake, a lion, or anything in between. Occasionally, it may even be a snail. That does seem a little creepy, doesn’t it?
Even if you’ve seen or heard of people keeping snails as pets before, what we’re going to show you will blow your mind! In fact, the snail hashtag has received more than 300 million views on TikTok, proving that these mollusk friends are the ideal lockdown pet. Awesome!
We at Viraltrendzs were inspired to present a tale of a man who has adopted a fire snail as his pet. It is known as Platymma Tweedie, and it is one of the biggest snails from the Malaysian Peninsula. A gothic-style snail, it’s really one-of-a-kind. Take a look at the gallery below to see what I mean.
#1 This snail indeed is big, don’t you think? Amazingly gorgeous for a creepy monster!

#2 Owing of its look, it is commonly referred to as a fire snake.

#3 Only the Peninsula of Malaysia is home to these uncommon snails, which are very hard to come by.

#4 One hundred kilometers in radius and 1,000 meters above sea level are the only places where they have been discovered.

#5 It is solely for the purpose of selling them as pets that these snails are being removed from their native habitats.

#6 It is, on the other hand, difficult to maintain them alive for an extended duration. Even more so while held captive.

#7 Hot weather is clearly not a favorite of this particular fire snail species. As a consequence, they can’t live there. A cool and humid environment is essential for their survival.

#8 Nature has created something quite magnificent here.

#9 Take a look at how drastically different their sizes are.

#10 Those of you who like snails will delight in the fascinating appearance of this oddball. Enjoy!

There were some interesting remarks regarding the appearance of fire snails made by several people :

The answers were quite hilarious to read through. What matters is that you ignore the critics who bring out your pet’s flaws, regardless of how frequent or uncommon they are. If you’re interested, go ahead and take the leap. Some people won’t understand why you want a snail instead of a dog or cat, but that’s OK with me.
