Kim Kardashian has revealed the genuine reason why she made a sex tape with her ex boyfriend Ray J.
The 40-year-old shot to fame in 2007 after an adult entertainment company, who reportedly paid $1 million for it, leaked the tape on the web.
As it went viral, Kim and her family launched the first ever series of Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
10 years and 20 seasons later, KUWTK set its last scene to air on June 10, 2021.
While we hold back to check whether the series ends with a bang, Kim has opened up about her infamous sex tape – and how recording her family’s reality show assisted her cope with the scandal.
In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, the mum-of-four said: “I do imagine that, clearly, as producers, I’m certain they adored it. Furthermore, adored [us] needing to discuss the obvious issue at hand.
“Also, I probably wouldn’t have, except if it was for the show.
“In some cases, I feel like ‘alright, I realize that I should probably deal and get this over with. Somebody’s gonna ask me, so I should simply feel free to do it.”
She continued: “In a way, filming has assisted us with managing things, rather than sweeping them under the rug.
“At the end of the day, I was always open and honest and needed to share whatever I was going through. I wasn’t going to keep down.”
Kim, who is now estranged from husband Kanye West, made the sex tape in 2002 while she was dating singer Brandy’s sibling, Ray J.
She was also working as a personal assistant to Brandy and Paris Hilton at that point.
The couple were on a vacation in Cabo, Mexico, celebrating Kim’s 23rd birthday when they chose to film the frisky flick.
Asked by sister Kourtney Kardashian during a scene of KUWTK why she did it, Kim answered: “Because I was horny and I felt like it.”
Singer Ray J showed up on Celebrity Big Brother in 2017 and was questioned about the sex tape and whether he had broken Kim’s heart.
He reacted: “We’re a similar sort of player. She was the female me.”
When inquired further by his housemates, he added: “You don’t actually know what happened. Put it like this – we were both players. We were both cheaters, you know?
“You’re taking a gander at it from outside, strolling in and seeing her do my clothes or something. You don’t have an idea what happened before, later… no hint. People think a ton of things.
“We loved one another. In each relationship, I was in I loved the girl. It’s simply the ethical norms and qualities were off. I was loving and lying.”
