It’s quite upsetting to witness cutting-edge concepts being used for commercial interests. However, at least it presents a challenge to sexist views about the ideal appearance of the female body.
The illustrious sportswear manufacturer Addidas has kicked off the fall/winter season with the launch of its “Superstar” marketing campaign, which focuses on originality. It shines a spotlight on the models, activists, artists, and athletes who are on their way to becoming the “icons of tomorrow.” The Superstar Sneaker’s design was largely influenced by the phrase “Redefining Beauty.”
But why did the video spark such a heated discussion online?
Arvidia Bystrom was the focus of the whole uproar that ensued. She is a Swedish model, artist, and photographer who has fought tirelessly to break social norms throughout her career. Also, she has never been one to hold back when it comes to voicing her support for the “No Shave” movement.
She smiled at the camera in a beautiful white dress with a pink top and pastel variants of the Superstar shoe brand. At all times she maintained the impression that she was an attractive girl. However, many people were shocked when she exposed her hairy legs in front of the audience.
She has been the target of bullying from a few individuals. They had been posting comments that were insulting and cruel underneath videos on Youtube. Moreover, they’d made harsh threats against her in their messages.
According to Arvidia, she cannot even begin to imagine what it would be like to try to exist in a world without these comforts. On Instagram, she said that she was spreading love and making an effort to comprehend that not every individual has the same life experiences.
